Session 1: 1pm-3pm (K-5th grade)
This active, large group format uses age appropriate language and concepts to equip participants to recognize unsafe people, avoid dangerous situations and respond appropriately if they are approached by a predator. The session will include the following components:
Be Smart:
Participants will learn to identify unsafe people (who they are, what they do**)
Be Strong:
Participants will learn just in case skills for every day (personal boundary setting, trusting instinct, running from danger, identifying trusted adults) and just in case skills for emergencies (using self-defense if an unsafe person is trying to hurt/take you).
Participants will learn and practice simple self-defense tactics that can be used to facilitate escape from an attacker.
Be Safe:
Participants will learn about lies/manipulations predators use to lure and silence victims and how to identify trusted adults and disclose abuse.
All participants will receive a take home review resource with certificate of completion and a participation patch. Parents will receive follow up safety resources and access to self-defense practice-at-home instruction.
**NOTE: This training is specifically focused on protecting children from sexual abuse. As such, we will discuss sexual abuse in summary terms (identifying private body parts as all parts covered by a swimsuit, informing participants that unsafe people may want to see/touch/photograph their privates). If you would like additional details about this segment of the training, please contact us at 678-526-3335.

Session 2: 4pm – 6pm (6th-12th grade)
This session will be taught in an active, large group format and will equip participants to understand their risk for violent attack and sexual assault, take action to reduce risk, and defend themselves against an attacker. (**PARENTS/LEADERS of pre-teens, please read the note below regarding participation)
Be Smart:
Teen girls face the higher risk of violent attack or sexual assault. Participants will learn about their risk of attack/assault in their real and online life, who the attackers are, and what action steps can be taken to incorporate personal safety into all decisions to reduce risk.
Be Strong:
Participants will learn about personal boundary setting and consent, using voice and body with power to respond to a threat, understanding the body’s response to fear, and defending against an attacker.
Participants will learn and practice simple self-defense tactics that can be used to facilitate escape from an attacker.
Be Safe:
Participants will learn the importance of disclosing sexual assault, recognizing early signs of dating abuse, and choosing healthy relationships.
All participants will receive take home review resources and a participation patch. Parents will receive follow up safety resources and access to self-defense practice-at-home instruction.
**NOTE: This training includes frank discussion of sex, sexual assault and trafficking. Tween participants who are not familiar with these concepts should participate in Session 1 as an alternative. If you would like additional details about this training, please contact us at 678-526-3335.
