About Protected While Connected for DeKalb Middle Schoolers

Revved Up Kids Protected While Connected online safety training for middle schoolers is fully turnkey, delivered via the Renaissance Nearpod platform. The program addresses three primary online dangers: Guarding Online Privacy, Managing Online Reputation, Staying Safe from Online Predators and Pornography. Each module lasts approximately 20-30 minutes and includes peer-to-peer discussion, real life examples, quizzes and interactive activities to reinforce learning.

Guarding Online Privacy

Criminals and marketers are masterful at collecting private information and using it for nefarious purposes. In this module, students learn how and where their private data is collected, stolen, used and sold, and what action steps they can take to prevent it.

Opinions are being formed about people based solely on what can be found in an online search. People lose jobs because of social media posts. This module focuses on action steps that students can take to curate a positive online reputation.

Staying Safe Online

The U.S. Dept of Justice reports that there are more than 500,000 sexual predators online in our country. Additionally, our children are being methodically targeted by online pornography sites seeking to profit from addiction. This module is sensitively delivered in an age appropriate way with a focus on opening students’ eyes to these dangers and offering concrete safety action steps. This module complies with Erin’s Law and with Georgia HB287.

Can I preview the lessons before my child participates?

Yes, we can provide you with a special link to preview one or more of the modules. Please call 678-526-3335 to discuss.

The grant will end on November 30, 2026. At that time, all student links will expire. 

Yes. Hundreds of student pre- and post-tests have been evaluated and the program is scientifically proven to improve participant knowledge.
